Medway student wins dream role in panto

 

Tara Verloop, 16, from Chatham was among 22 girls competing for the role during open auditions at the Central Theatre on Sunday.  The Chatham Grammar School for Girls student is now looking forward to working with a professional cast and crew, and sharing the stage with EastEnders star Joe Swash who will play Buttons in the show this Christmas. More jobs have been created as visitors spend more money in Medway.Research carried out by Medway Council's tourism department and undertaken by Tourism South East, has revealed that £265million was spent in Medway in 2006, by visitors of all types. Click Here for full story.

Police work to tackle underage drinking

 

Neighbourhood officers in East Medway have launched a campaign to tackle underage drinking.

Over the coming weeks PCSOs in Rainham, Watling and Gillingham South will be distributing posters to local off-licences warning people that it is an offence to purchase alcohol for those aged under 18-years-of-age. Click Here for full story.

 

 

Creative “Ideas and Innovations”

 

Following its success in 2006, the ‘Art in the Dockyard’ biennial competition and exhibition returns to The Historic Dockyard this year.  Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust invites artists and photographers from all over the South East to paint, sketch and photograph within the dockyard until 31st August.
